We should take the time to thank Andy Ritchie, who joined us as a volunteer alongside the incredible Joanne Rawley. It is thanks to these efforts that so many things were made possible this festive season, alongside the already incredible team in place. Both Jo and Andy have been assisting our secretary reaching wider & professional groups and continue to do so.
Storage was becoming a huge struggle, with units coming in slowly and although fantastic were not fit for the coming months. So Andy, although working in a very demanding job and position found the time to find options. These include the first half, which have since been delivered to storage only premises, and have led to them being completely transformed. Without this it is doubtful that the festive season would have been the success it was.
Additionally through his network, a donation of £500 was made to the Street Friends account by one of his contacts. The person has asked not to be named. This community spirit is what enables us to continue driving forwards. Helping those most in need the isolated, vulnerable, poverty stricken, homeless, those with dependency issues, facing domestic abuse and many more - we are making a difference.
The other half of the storage awaits the committee requesting it be delivered. The goal will be to utilise the storage units, instead of the tables, at the storage only facility. The tables are intended on ALL going out on the full frontline emergency outreach sessions. This would allow us to box in both table areas, to create further distancing, as well as space to keep all items off the ground whenever possible.
Community donations through Amazon Wishlist, of storage items such as the clear boxes, rails and also the clothes/footwear storage items, are helping with this immensely too. But we now rely on Amazon for the majority of our food parcel & clothing items too. Donations can also be made through either of our GoFundMe accounts, find them HERE & HERE.
Thank you Andy & Jo, as well as Steve and others. A thank you as well to all of the local #Aberdeen #community #Covid19 donors, who are acknowledging our need to receive donations via these 3 ways, as opposed to in person, which is no longer permissible. As well as a huge thanks to all our volunteers for following the guidelines, and re-registering to receive their special dispensation, which permits frontline volunteer care givers such as Street Friends to continue operating legally & safely.
