"A huge thank you from Justin and all the Street Friends team for your ongoing support. We know it is a tough time, going back into lockdown, but the fact it will save lives, ensures we all are understanding."
As you may be aware Street Friends is continuing as the Primary Frontline Outreach for the area, responding to call outs, twice daily checking through town areas for anyone in need. As well as our Weds & Sun full frontline outreach. As a registered community group we operate with dispensation, strictly adhering to the guidelines set out along with advice received from collaborations with local charities & services.
One thing we have had to stop is in person donations being dropped to our King Street storage only premises. This means around 75% of our donations have instantly stopped. On top of that we have also seen closures of many our regular contributors of hot food & fresh meal options.
One option we still have, is our Amazon Wishlist - SEE HERE
This list includes essential items for our food parcels and care packages, our volunteer & peer led team delivers as a 'welfare service'.
If you can help by sharing this post, to raise awareness, it would be a huge benefit to us. We had been seeing between 100-120 people per full outreach session, which has reduced slightly due to isolation. However we are now seeing an extra 20-40 people per day, with our twice daily, 7 days street welfare outreaches, as well as emergency call outs received from services. All volunteering operations have reduced in numbers, with risk assessed tier4 precautions . So at storage we are around 3 volunteers, distanced, with gloves and masks. Outside we remain with 3 volunteers, all observing FACTS, at all times. We try to maintain 3 volunteers for safety and practical operations.
Current estimations are around 400 in total or more seen weekly!
For tier4 we have radically changed our modus operandi. With a full covid19 emergency response management team overseeing all operations. We also have an on call logistics and contact number for WhatsApp, Text or calls 07510 059138. We still have our firstname.lastname@example.org email.
We are also working alongside Forgotten Veterans UK.
Stay safe all. #covid19 #teamwork #community #bethechange
HERE are some examples of items needed from the Wishlist as soon as possible:
We can also accept donations to our Covid19 emergency GoFundMe and Covid19 Mental Health/Street Friends GoFundMe.
Also with our new charitable bank account we can accept direct transfers to the Street Friends Account too.
